Voyager Torture features Vincent reviewing an episode of Star Trek Voyager that he’s seen for the first time and Chris Piers creating a drawing based solely on Vincent’s review and never having seen the show.
The Voyager responds to a distress call from a ship caught in a black hole. After some hubbub it turns out that it’s the USS Voyager! What’s going on!? It turns out it’s a reflection and they’re the ones stuck in the black hole! I don’t think that’s something that happens with black holes!
Also the half Klingon lady Torres has far less control over her anger than many of her full Klingon kind. She smashes a coworker in the face when he disagrees with her. He’s kind of an ugly nobody, so she doesn’t get jail time, but it puts her possible promotion of chief engineer in danger. The Maquis talk about taking over the ship, Chakotay shuts them down, and Torres is made chief engineer.
There’s some business about Janeway and Torres in a shuttle having to pick which Voyager to go back to, the real one or the reflection. Janeway is right because… she’s Janeway?
Basically this episode is the standard ship runs into a problem and must techno babble their way out of it like on Star Trek: The Next Generation, but with different characters.
Least Annoying Characters:
Most Torturous Moment:
Janeway being right, because she’s Janeway. It would have been a more powerful moment if the woman Janeway didn’t think could cut it as engineer made the life saving decision.
Torture Score: 2 out of 5 Neelixes
