The Robot’s Pajamas is NSFW

surprised-cat

I have to take a bit of time to explain something. The Robot’s Pajamas is a “Not Safe for Work” blog. Now I hope we’re all on the same page.

To clarify, it’s not NSFW like a porn site. I think of it as a PG-13 rating (in the U.S.) to maybe R for language and content. It might not be evident all the time, but that’s how it is. The only reason why I bring this up is that two people who I respect complained or notified me that the Robot’s Pajamas is no longer safe for work due to the Cosplay Deviants ad that appears on the left side of the screen over there (if it’s still up when you read this). I understand their concern and deeply respect their opinions. Their comments inspired me to clarify a few things and to get some thoughts I had that were inspired by the topic.

1. Originally the Robot’s Pajamas was created to post whatever I wanted. That included nudity, but only occasionally. That’s why I go by the name Vincent on here. Yes, it’s my real name, but not my first name. So that’s a mystery solved right there for anyone who has ever been confused by that one.

I realize that I haven’t posted any nudity for some time, but the option is there. One reason that I haven’t is that Google spanked me for it, so now I have to censor and have any nudity included in a link. And yes, I can hide the “NSFW” pics behind a “more” tag, but if your employer sees your visiting a site that has “NSFW” tags, you’re probably boned anyway. And that doesn’t help if you follow via RSS feed since it’s set to full for a very boring reason that I won’t get into now.

2. It’s a sad fact, because I do it all the time, but you shouldn’t be surfing the web at work. I’m just guessing here that fucking around on the Robot’s Pajamas isn’t good in either case. I understand your concerns and I’d never want you to get fired though.

3. I understand that it might be hard to identify the site as something that might be a little more cheeky and I’m sorry for that. To my defense, the tag on the banner above does read, “Like the Playboy Mansion, but for Geeks.” That could probably be taken a couple of ways, but I always meant it to mean that it was a geek site that might be a little seedy, albeit seedy cool.

4. Probably the most important point I’d like to cover is that this is just an example of how fucked up our American society is. The image in the banner does show a lot of skin, but there’s no sign of nipples and maybe the slightest hint of side boob. You do get a little in the butt area there, but its pretty god damned tame. It’s sad to think that our society fears the human body so much that you could even think of getting fired over that. If I had an image of a guy shooting guns or cars exploding, that would be just fine.

I think part of what defines this blog apart from other geek sites is it’s edge. You might not know what you’ll find here, but usually it’s pretty good. Part of that edge that a lot of other geek sites don’t do is that I recognize in a respectful way (I hope) that the female form is awesome while still doing stuff like talking about toys and pointing out great art. It’s the Playboy Mansion for geeks, damn it!

Will I always have these kinds of ads? Probably not. And please don’t expect that this means the site will turn into a porn site. It’s at the level I feel comfortable with in that it’s an extension of who I am. I’m a geek that likes tits (ladies, I mean that in the most respectful and romantic way possible). I hope you’re willing to keep coming back to the site after or before work and enjoy both geek stuff and the occasional boob with me.

If this site was NSFW, it would’ve been blocked here at work. Seriously, I check in everyday. Your site is great. PG-13 is a good description. Keep up the great work. (And don’t think because I’ve been quoted here means I’m biased. I really find the toy articles [AT-ATs, baby!] good. The boobs are an added bonus from time to time!)

Slight note: some employers are perfectly fine with web usage throughout the work day. Like my employer for example, they let us use the internet and don’t bother us about it, as long as we get our work done. Totally respect you doing whatever you want with your blog. Especially because it’s so good!

  • I appreciate the warning, but I’ve seen enough posts here to know not to visit during work. I initially started visiting this site to find some good clean articles and discussions about pajamas and robots; so I’ve been disappointed on several levels. However, I keep coming back because of you charm.

  • @Lamar Thanks, your support as always is appreciated

@Jon Thanks dude! Hopefully you can stop by after work!

@clark Dude, thanks a bunch. It’s funny because I get a lot of traffic for “pajamas”. Yeah, I realize that’s the name of the site, but I never write about them. I can only imagine how many horrified mothers and grandmothers find this site.

Fair enough, PVR, as long as there isn’t any bare flesh. You know I’m all about defending the young from bare flesh. And zombies. But mainly just bare flesh. ;)
