Whether you love pro football or not, it’s THE place to advertise to the widest audience possible. And man, did we get a lot of cool teasers and commercials for sci-fi, superhero, and other genre stuff. Here’s what we think were the best commercials from yesterday. So whether you skipped the NFL’s 2015 season big game and are curious what you may have missed or just want to watch ’em again, here you go:
If anyone won yesterday, it was Paul Rudd. He was mentioned as being universally loved in a Bud Light ad, then he popped up as Ant-Man in this ad for mini-Coke.
I think the next Ninja Turtles movie looks like a lot of fun. And just as we speculated in our first trailer breakdown, we have the technodrome and Krang!
Oh man. The trailer for Captain America: Civil War just cuts right to the point. Heroes vs. heroes. And we have confirmation that Tony Stark has created his Bleeding Edge armor. His most powerful yet.
I gotta give it to the Deadpool marketing guys. Their ads are memorable. Maybe a few too many, but it does look funny.
Fox also advertised its next X-Men movie, Apocalypse. It looks pretty epic. Hope Apocalypse himself isn’t campy.
There were so many movie trailers. The one for 10 Cloverfield Lane is still very elusive for what it could be about. But it definitely seems like it could be a tangential sequel to Cloverfield with John Goodman trapping people in his doomsday bunker to protect them from monsters.
Just for the hell of it, Nintendo had one letting us know that Pokemon has been around for 20 years. That’s a lot of pokemons to catch.
Finally, a new trailer for Independence Day 2: Resurgence. Looks like the aliens have tentacle weapons this time? Maybe?
There were other ads that used sci-fi and genre elements, like some bizarre avacado ad set in space but for our money, the above ones were the best. Which was your favorite?
