I mean, what else are these for if not the notable kills? There’s been 12 movies and the below list includes the best one from each movie.
Friday the 13th (1980)
Kevin Bacon is a counselor just chillin’ on his cot in the cabin when someone pushes an arrow up through his neck. Tom Savini’s practical effects are awesome. Though how someone had the strength to shove an arrow through a bed and a whole neck is another question entirely.
Friday the 13th Part 2
This movie showed that the series would kill ANYONE. Mark is a wheelchair bound jock waiting outside for a girl. Then a meat cleaver jams in his face and his wheelchair bounces down a looooong staircase. Brutal.
Friday the 13th Part III
This movie takes it a step further and has Jason Voorhees kill a pregnant teen. But in a movie shot in 3D and full of deaths exploiting that, the best is probably when Jason simply squeezes Rick’s head until his eyeball pops out. I mean, it’s pretty obviously a prop head with a fake eyeball on a wire, but in context it works.
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
They perfected their formula with this one. Crispin Glover plays a memorable nerd in it and does an absolutely bizarre dance. Shortly thereafter, Jason impales his hand with a corkscrew, sticking him to the kitchen counter, then jamming a cleaver across his face. This kills the character.
Friday the 13th: A New Beginning
This movie’s kills are especially vicious. Jason literally punches someone’s heart out of their body. But the best is probably when Jason catches Eddie next to a tree and binds his head against it with a leather strap that he tightens until Eddie’s head is crushed.
Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
Jason sneaks into an RV and shoves Nikki’s head into the bathroom mirror and wall. We cut to the other side and see her face make a cartoon-esque impression in the molded plastic wall. This movie had a bunch of jokey kills like that.
Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
Arguably the most notable kill in the whole series. Judy is waiting in her sleeping bag in the woods for her boyfriend to return. Jason walks up, grabs the sleeping bag and slams it against a tree.
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
Teenager Julius is cornered by Jason on a city rooftop. But Julius is a champion boxer. He pounds away at Jason’s mask repeatedly, backing Jason up. Until Julius starts to get so exhausted that he misses punches and Jason is still standing. Telling Jason to take his best shot, Jason uppercuts Julius and knocks his head off in one blow, where it tumbles down into a dumpster.
Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday
The best kill in this movie is brief in the theatrical version but insane in the unrated home release. Deborah is having sex with her boyfriend in a tent in the woods when Jason, unseen, impales her through the back with a sign post. That’s bad enough but in the unrated version he then yanks it upwards, ripping her in half. A bit extreme.
Jason is revived in the far future by some students visiting Earth after humanity has moved to the stars. While preparing to dissect Jason’s body, he revives behind Adrienne. Jason grabs her head, shoves it in a sink full of liquid nitrogen and smashes it against the counter. Mean.
Freddy vs. Jason
Jason has a lot of kills in this movie but his first big one is probably the strongest. Mean boyfriend Trey is drinking beer in bed after sex with Gibb only to find Jason standing over him. Jason repeatedly stabs him (actually through him) with his machete. Then, as Trey starts to pass away, Jason grabs the entire bed and folds it in half, breaking Trey’s spine.
Friday the 13th (2009)
Chelsea is wakeboarding on Crystal Lake when Nolan is shot by a crossbow. She sees Jason on the shore and swims underwater, hiding under a dock. Jason walks down the dock but doesn’t seem to see her. Until a machete bursts down through the dock and into her head. Then her whole body is lifted until her head hits the dock and Jason can pull the machete out.
