Some Deets on the Alien Prequels

I like Alien and all, but I usually don’t like to write about movies until there’s a bit more solid info or images. Recently Ridley Scott talked about the Alien Prequels that he plans on doing and I decided to write about them here, mostly because of the idiot who left a comment on the Predators article who basically had written these things off because there was no involvement from HR Giger, despite the fact that the original director who was going to work on these things. Seriously, I can’t get my head wrapped around that one. Anyway, the new Alien movies (all three of them) will be filmed back to back and take place 30 years before Alien. Scott says:

The film will be really tough, really nasty,” he notes. “It’s the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?

Usually I’m not totally cool with prequels, because all the suspense is gone when you know what happens to all the characters. It doesn’t really apply here though. All that we know in the original film is that the “Pilot” ship crashes. So it’s not like we already know that Darth Vader was Anakin and all that sort of business.

This films are also a big relief. Once Aliens met Predators on the big screen I was afraid that we’d never be able to separate them again.

Thanks to: The Independent and no thanks to all the jerks that posted about this, but didn’t link back to the original source.

  • One correction – Ridley Scott has said he plans to make two films, not three. But they will be filmed in 3D.

  • Vincent

    Don’t you dare correct me!
