Sideshow’s Second Storm Shadow

Well, I must make another difficult decision in life. Sideshow has officially made their second version of a sixth scale Storm Shadow available and hot damn, do I want him. He’s based on the second version of the toy, which looks like this (image from

I loved, LOVED this version of Storm Shadow when I was a kid. Storm Shadow was my favorite character and I only briefly had the figure. I suspect that he had been stolen. Back in those days I just couldn’t get a replacement and Hasbro stopped making that version.

When the second one came out, I was all about it. I still remember first seeing it on store pegs and losing my mind. Here was Storm Shadow again and I loved the redesign. The camo was cool, the hood was super cool, and I dug the bow. I lost my mind even more when I saw the bio on the file card saying that he was now a good guy. What the!? So awesome.

Sideshow’s version of the second Storm Shadow isn’t 100% faithful to the vintage toy. It’s different enough though to give it a more modern look while at the same time resembling the original enough to please a nostalgia junkie like me. I’m really tempted to order this guy despite not having Sideshow money right now. I missed out on the first version of Storm Shadow and I really don’t want to make that mistake again.

What I really dig is that he comes with a good amount of accessories. Love the bow and arrow and that sword is super detailed. The only thing I’m not super crazy about is the hand gauntlets. I’d like the option to display him without those bracers.

On a side note, I’d like to point out that I’m super excited that I was able to finally have a post that which such fine alliteration.

I have found the Joes easy enough to pass up, but I want Cobra Commander, and I REALLY want Zartan and this Storm Shadow.

  • RobotsPJs

Yeah, most of the Joes just look like regular army guys. I couldn’t justify buying the 200 buck Snake Eyes, which I really want. But… Storm Shadow and particularly this version meant so much to me when I was a kid.

What you have to ask yourself is whether this expensive-ass childhood icon will be subtly disappointing, like Hot Toys ’89 Batman.

  • Frankly, I’m subtly disappointing by most things in life, so I’m fully expecting to be subtly dissapointed.

And in the case of Batman, the photos really over sold that thing. It just didn’t look as good as they did in the photos (some of the poses). It’s entirely possible that the same thing could happen here.

Heh. you and me both, man.

I’m hopeful for Neca’s big ol’ Keaton Batman, not that I’ll be able to afford it anytime soon. I assume its articulation is more intuitive.

  • Good luck. I don’t have much faith in NECA after I’ve heard a lot of stories and my Predator’s wrist blade broke immediately after opening.

Damn, I didn’t know they had Quality Control issues.

My kingdom for a sturdy, articulated Keaton Batman!
