My Remaining Toy Grails

I’ve previously bragged about owning my most wanted aka grail toys, yet there are a few out there that I still “need”. Here’s my current list of remaining toys that I’d really love to own. Hint… hint…

G.I. Joe Stormshadow V2 MOC

I’d say Stormshadow V1, but let’s get serious that guy can go for thousands of dollars putting him from Grail territory to I’d have to be insane to even think about it. It’s like he goes so far down the grail path that he comes back around again. I also heavily identify with this Stormshadow. I remember getting him and being fascinated that this bad guy had turned good via reading the file card. He also came with a really rad hand claw, so that really appealed to me.

DC Super Powers Batman/Superman/Braniac MOC

DC Super Powers figure are some of the earliest figures I remember ever getting and I played the shit out of them for YEARS, well after I lost capes and wore the paint off with my fingers. I equally want Superman/Batman/Braniac on card. Batman and Superman for the obvious reasons… they’re freaking Batman and Superman in my favorite incarnations of these characters. Why Brianiac? Braniac is the earliest figure I remember getting. I got him for a birthday present and I had no idea who this guy was other than he was a crazy looking robot dude and I loved him. Any one of these three and I’d be happy as a clam.

Note: Pic comes from Battlegrip, because my pal Phil Reed had one. Damn it!

Transformers Jetfire MIB

Transformers-Jetfire

One of the few “must have” Transformers in my life has thus far eluded me. Jetfire was such an interesting figure due to his history. He’s really a Robotech figure that made his way into the Transformers line and he only made one appearance in the Transformers cartoon series. Growing up I only ever saw one of them at a friend’s house and it was owned by his older brother that was missing a few of his parts… yet he was so freaking cool looking. To this day I’m still obsessed with Veritechs (the Robotech ship he’s based on).

Of course I’ve seen him at conventions and he’s on eBay, but it never seems the right time and never the right Jetfire for me. I don’t need it to be perfect, but he can get pretty damned pricey if you’re looking at the cost of the guy in the package. Someday though… I will get my Jetfire!

Jetfire appeared more than once in the cartoon. It was more like 8 or 9 appearances, although he was called Skyfire there.

I don’t remember which site shared this article, maybe it was here somewhere, but here’s a real interesting read on the Jetfire toy if you’re so inclined. He also links to an earlier article that goes into detail about licensing issues with Transformers and different markets.

I had Jetfire as a kid and I remember being disappointed that his face didn’t match his appearance in the comics or cartoons.

I wanted Brainiac as a kid, but I was anal even back THEN, not impressed with integrity and flaws of the chroming / paint job.
