Humanity, we’ve invented our own destruction. In 2011, software company ARM Holdings hired designers Mike Dobson and David Gilday to build a Rubik’s Cube solving robot. They used ARM technology in a Samsung phone hooked up to Lego Mindstorm robotics and beat the Guiness World Record for solving the cube. The old time was 64 seconds.

They went and improved their robot with a Samsung Galaxy S II (take that iPhone) with a custom Rubik’s cube solving app. Their new robot, the Cubestormer II, is a Rubik’s cube solving beast, solving it in 5.27 seconds! Watch the amazing video of the Cubestormer II robot at work:

Now that they have a robot with such quick reflexes and problem solving capacity that this can only mean disaster. We predict that the robot will learn to use nunchucks next. It was a nice run ruling the Earth while it lasted.
