Ghostbusters Turn 30: Lego Ghostbusters and More!

Lego’s Cuusoo project which has brought us gems like the Back to the Future DeLorean has announced that they will be producing a Ghostbusters Lego set just in time for the 30th anniversary of one of the best movies of all time!

Sweet Sassy Molassy, this is great news. I’m tickled pink. As much as people got riled up for The Back to the Future DeLorean, that set did not do it for me. I just don’t think it did the car justice. Hopefully the Ecto-1 will be as close as possible to the one seen in the original Cuusoo proposal.

It looks like what we’re going to get is the four Ghostbusters and an Ecto-1. Hopefully, they’ll do the sensible thing and do the firehouse and give us a Slimer and a Janine!

At the end of the video they show other projects under consideration including a Macross Valkyrie. Wow, that one is another Lego set that would certainly get a vote with my wallet.

Anyway, I’m going to keep my eyes open for more great Ghostbusters products this year. Diamond Select Toys is re-issuing the main four Ghostbusters in a four pack Minimates form with the “I Love This Town Box Set” pack due out in March. They are also planning on releasing more Ghostbusters goodness, but according to Zach Oat of DST they won’t have an announcement until at least after Toyfair.

Meanwhile Mattel is expected to reissue their 1:18th scale Ecto-1 for the 30th in light of not being able to make their Ecto-1 goal for their Ghostbusters action figure line. This time the Hotwheels 1:18th Ecto-1 is supposed to come with “figures”, though we don’t know who they are yet. And it’s going to cost 275 bucks. Yikes.

Finally, while it’s not related to the 30th you can download the Ghostubsters 2 soundtrack for the NES game here and the Ghostbusters Genesis game soundtrack here. Enjoy!
