Wolverine is the best at… I don’t even know

With Vincent swamped with schoolwork, he gave me temporary permission to do a Friday Round Up. I’ll do my best.

Mighty Morphin’ Dancin’ Rangers

Power Rangers will be getting a new movie. Saban, the company that owns Power Rangers, announced that they will team with Lionsgate, who produce teen films like Twilight and Hunger Games, to create a new movie. Sounds like it will be separate from any tv version and be a reimagining of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers show from 20 years ago. Yeah, that should make you feel old.

Reg E. Cathey

Reg E. Cathey

The Fantastic Four reboot cast Reg E. Cathey, from The Wire, as Dr. Storm. That means that Kate Mara’s Sue Storm is the adopted one, not Johnny. Good actor. This still feels like a rushed film and I will hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

The Inbetweeners was a very funny British sitcom about nerds in high school. They had a feature film release that was pretty good and now here’s the trailer for the sequel. It can be vulgar but also surprisingly accurate about what it’s like to be outside of all the school cliques.

So, in 1997 there was work done on a potential X-Men film that never came to be. Mel Gibson was at the height of his popularity and was in negotiations to be Wolverine. Artist Miles Teves was tasked with envisioning what he’d look like. It’s interesting, but I’m glad we got Huge Assman instead. Speaking of which, here’s the final trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past. Bryan Singer says he’ll next do X-Men: Apocalypse set in the 1980s and possibly recasting younger versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm.

Anyone been waiting for a blowjob machine? This weirdo made one.

Most of us new Full House was horrific, but this trailer makes that 100% clear.

Someone made a mod so that you could play Saints Row 4 with the Oculus Rift. Pretty dope.

Phoenix Jones teamed up with Sam “Flash Gordon” Jones to taser a radio host.

Grant Gustin as The Flash

DC Comics will have FIVE live action tv show next season, but only two of them will share continuity. The CW announced that it renewed Arrow and picked up its spinoff, The Flash. The CW also picked up iZombie, a Vertigo title about a girl who is a zombie so she stays healthy by eating brains at a morgue. When she eats the brains she gains their memories so she also solves murders. The show will be made by Rob Thomas who did Veronica Mars, so it could be good. Fox picked up Gotham, the pre-Batman tv show about Jim Gordon as a cop. NBC picked up Constantine. Hope that one is good ‘cuz John Constantine is an awesome character, but I have a hard time imagining him drinking, smoking, and screwing people over on NBC.

Here’s the trailer for Gotham and it seems very strange that Penguin and other villains are around while Bruce Wayne is only 8 years old. The producers say they will even introduce the Joker.

Haley Atwell as Peggy Carter

Meanwhile, Marvel had Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. renewed (and that’s good, the show has turned around big time and has become very fun and exciting since the midseason). ABC also picked up Agent Carter to series. This show will be a shorter, 13-episode season following Peggy Carter from the first Captain America film. She will be a spy in 1946. Peggy will team up with the Howling Commandos and Howard Stark to eventually create S.H.I.E.L.D. ABC is said to be planning to air the show halfway between Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. so that it can run throughout the season with no breaks or reruns. Here’s Vincent’s take on Captain America’s old girlfriend:

Judge Dredd needs a good action figure. While we wait for the gods to move things around so that we get a Dredd 2 movie, maybe order yourself the next best thing: an unlicensed Heavy Armoured Special Cop. AKA this is totally Karl Urban as Judge Dredd. Pre-order now at Monkey Depot.

TMNT action figures

TMNT action figures

An image of the new action figures for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles based on the live action film this summer have been released. It gives a pretty good indication of what Shredder and Splinter will look like. Splinter looks like a total creep with a dicknose, but what can you do?
