Friday Round Up: Dredd 2, Ronins, and Stuffs

Make a Dredd Sequel

Movie Stuff

Dredd 2: 2000 AD, the company behind Judge Dredd has an official petition to get a sequel to the amazingly cool Dredd. Sign it! I’m now crazy for Judge Dredd and I really want to see some more quality Dredd adventures on the big screen. (They also have a Facebook Page for it too)

Star Trek II: Here’s a weird fact: Khan had a little kid that was cut out of Star Trek II.

47 Ronin: The Japanese are slightly confused by 47 Ronin. I want to see it, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with changing the story so much. I’d watch a version of a well known historical event like the Alamo where everyone has superpowers. Hell, that’s the only way you could get me to watch something about the Alamo.

Life Size TIE Fighter: A German fan group made a life size replica of Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter. Amazing! But actually, I think it might be a little small…

Comic Stuff

Marvel’s Licensed Comics: An online bud named Jerry wrote this in depth article on the history of Marvel’s licensed comics like G.I. Joe, Star Wars, Transformers, Micronauts, and more. It’s a really interesting look at Marvel’s huge successes and sometimes failures with them.

Tech Stuff

Impossible to Repair: I’m definitely not a technology nerd/geek, but this article on the hardest devices to repair really had me thinking about how terrible we are as a society for making these things that will be obsolete in a short amount of time AND can’t be fixed if they break.

Toy Stuff

The Eaglehawk: The new G.I. Joe Tomahawk aka Eaglehawk is available for purchase online and at some Toys R Us stores. I decided to get one, yet I haven’t opened it up yet. Mostly this is due to me having a 99% complete vintage Tomahawk and I don’t have the space to display two of the almost the same vehicle. If you’re wondering what the new one is like, check out this post!

SDCC Toys: I had hook ups for the Super 7 Aliens Early Bird kit and the Transformers/G.I. Joe set from this year’s San Diego Comic Con. I’m waiting for my buddy to ship the Aliens set. Also waiting to hear confirmation on the shipment of the G.I. Joe set. This waiting is killing me. As soon as I get them and have time to take some pics, I’ll post my reviews. If anyone still cares about reading about them well after their released and everyone else has reviewed them, that is.

My Defiant: This one needs a picture, but sorry I don’t have one. Anyway, I have most of a G.I. Joe Defiant and this thing is kind of a pain in the ass. It’s too big to display properly and its a money hole. Anyway, my girlfriend tried sticking a box fan in the window above it and I got kind of pissy saying, “Don’t you’ll ruin the paint and that fan will fall right on top of my Defiant!” So I put the fan on a box near the window and all is good.

Well fast forward about 30 minutes and the fucking fan falls on the Defiant anyway. And there is a break from the top of one of the gantry doors all the way to the bottom. Add that to the list of parts that needs to be replaced. What a pain in the ass.

If it’s any consolation, according to Toy Hunter, the Tomahawk is worth more than the Defiant.

Want another Dredd movie? Yes, please. I blame the Stallone movie for why Dredd was a flop. In the US, that how the average person knows who Judge Dredd is. Of course, after I had my mom take me to that movie (which was just terrible, even to a 12 year old me) I still became fascinated with the character.
Even if they need to kickstarter a sequel (a la Veronica Mars), I’d be willing to throw some bones their way.

Yeah, the original Dredd film cast a lonnnng shadow. I mentioned that in my Dredd review, which you should read.

I know it’s valuable when it has all the pieces, but I doubt that somehow. I thought Defiant was 400 to 500 complete where the Tomahawk was 100 to 200. Maybe I’m wrong. I’m not The Toy Hunter.

Holy crap, I just got linked on a post! Sweet!

I’m about to read your review right now, also I ordered a Dredd blu ray
from amazon to help out the campaign (also, it was backordered, how
    awesome is that?)
I read that Dredd is the number 1 selling dvd/blu
ray on right now, and the number 30 item overall since this
campaign started getting traction after 2000AD endorsed it.
