Cosplay Deviants: A Review (Fairly NSFW)

UPDATE: There is a more recent review of Cosplay Deviants. Click here to check it out!

The Cosplay Deviants booth at the 2011 c2e2 attracted swarms of nerds like flies with boners, thanks to the attractive ladies in nerdy costumes. The models were there to promote the Cosplay Deviants website, a site that features ladies dressed (and undressed) in geek media inspired costumes.  You have to pay to see the pictures and I’m sure a lot of you have wondered if it is worth the ten dollar entry fee to see the ladies inside, especially when the internet is full of free pictures and videos of ladies. Wonder no more, we have your answer with this handy dandy Cosplay Deviants review!

The Models

Now the first thing you should probably know going in is that these ladies are actual girls that like to dress up in nerdy outfits as opposed to hot pro-models they hired to dress up in the outfits. I’d say that qualifies the Cosplay Deviants ladies as amature status, even if they are on a paid site.  If you’re looking for Playboy type girls, Cosplay Deviants is not where you want to be. That being said, there’s some really hot ladies to be found there. In fact, I was surprised that the ratio to hot/not so hot was as favorable as it is. With amateur sites you never know… not that I know from experience.

If you’re into tats and piercings, you’ll like a lot of these ladies. It’s not as prevaliant as a site like Suicide Girls, but there’s quite a few of them. Personally at the risk of turning off any female readers that want to sleep with me (which I’m sure there are a legion), I’m not really big into tats. A few here and there are cool, but overall I just don’t get it. Once a girl has life sized zombie hands reaching up her stomach or a full back piece consisting of skeleton wings, I’m checking out.

And I’m sure many of you are wondering if the Cosplay Deviants website has nipples. They do. Nipples galore. I was expecting to find some sets that were just teases, but nope. Every set contains at least some boobage. I was also surprised to see some va-j-j action too.

It’s pretty much all above the board Playboy type poses, so if you’re hoping for something a little more risqué you’re not going to find it. There was a lot more than I was expecting in this department, so that’s always a plus.

Since this is a review and I had to be thorough, I clicked on the dude section. Yes gay dudes and straight ladies,  there’s some man candy. There’s about eight dudes and I looked at one and I only looked long enough to verify that there was no wang in that set. I don’t know if the other dudes have wang or not, but that’s about as brave as I could get. I did see some wang in some of the sets that featured couples that verged on the softest softcore, with a dash of simulated sex thrown in for good measure.

Now here’s where I get even more pervy than I have been, and I admit this review is a bit more pervy than I would like to get on Robot’s PJs. One of the reasons that you might want join the site is to see some of the ladies from Cosplay Deviants that you have seen at the convention in the buff. It certainly has appeal, because I’m sure most guys seeing hot women dressed up in cosplay at conventions have at the very least wondered what her lady parts looks like. Well here you go, dudes!

The Costumes

The whole niche of Cosplay Deviants is centered on cheeky cosplay, and it doesn’t disappoint in that respect. Since I detest anime, there’s a lot of costumes I don’t recognize. That’s not that big of a deal though, considering that nudity is the great unifier here. I would like to see more comic book inspired costumes, but that’s just me. Oh and there was no Cammy. This should be addressed.

One thing of note is that if you don’t the origins of the costumes, Cosplay Deviants doesn’t readily tell you. I’m sure that’s mainly due to fear of copyright violations, so it’s not really that big of a deal.

It’s kind of funny that not all the photo sets start out with a lady in costume and then end up with her in no costume. Lots of the sets feature it being the other way around. By the time they get the costume on, I’ve lost interest in the set. Hey, I’m a dude. The reward is the bewbs, not the costume.

The Content

As of publication there are over 100 sets of pictures on Cosplay Deviants. That’s a lot of pictures for ten bucks. Most of them are professional level quality. I saw only a couple of sets that were a little blurry and those were in some of the oldest of the sets. And while the images are high quality, they aren’t that large. They’re fine for looking at, but you won’t be making a poster to hang on your wall with them.

There’s two videos at the moment. There needs to be more, even if they’re just videos of the photo shoots. The one video is of two ladies and it gets a little hot, but it was a little short. Yeah, I know how disgusting this makes me sound, but damn it I like ladies and I like ladies together. Oh and I couldn’t find an option to save the videos, unless you are the type that uses some sort of browser plug-in.

There’s a forum and a chat room for those wanting to chat for whatever reason. When I went in for the review and there were five people chatting and I believe at least one of them was a Cosplay Deviant model. I didn’t verify. It felt strange.

The Cost

The membership fee for Cosplay Deviants is 10 bucks for 30 days or 25 for 60 days. This is actually a lot cheaper than it is for other sites for a month or two. And I only know this due to research purposes. Yeah. Research.

The membership costs gives you access to all images and video, but I did notice that there’s a private chat with one of the models that was listed at 50 bucks. Holy crap, who would spend that kind of money for a webcam session? I guess I haven’t reached that level of loneliness yet.

Overall though, for what you get ten bucks is a good deal. It becomes a better deal as more content is added over time. If the cosplay Deviants were to charge more for the same amount of content, I wouldn’t be so on board with it, but as it stands it’s worth the price.

P.S. I think I should address the fact that you could probably find these pictures for free online illegally. Don’t be a dick. First of all, you could support your favorite free blog/podcast by joining their site through the above banner. Secondly, these models are paid for their photos and by stealing the pictures, that discourages more pictures from being created. Feed the system, and the system will reward you!

Sorry, but isn’t paying for porno like paying for air?
I may have checked out the free tour and though, nice but not worth my ten bucks nice. Plus at this point the real porno guys have discovered the geeks with all these porn parodies (batman, x-files, justice league ect). So, I commend the ladies for their efforts, but IMO I can find parodies and comics books for this kind of fix.

  • Re paying for porn: I kind of addressed that in the review. You have to occasionally spend a little cash to keep the porn machine working.

And as far as those parodies go, I have no interest in them. They’re just pro chicks, not actual geek girls, which is the appeal of a site like this one.

“as far as those parodies go, I have no interest in them. They’re just pro chicks, not actual geek girls, which is the appeal of a site like this one.”

Fair enough, but that’s kind of like not watching Spiderman or Thor because the people playing the parts are actor not real comic book fans. But, lets not play my porn can beat up your porn. These ladies are doing a fine job dressing up and exposing themselves, for the good of all geekdom and that’s is commendable ( I guess as long your not their parents).

hey as a reply to this i was considering on modeling and in the FaQs it is required that you are a geek / nerd play video games, watch anime and etc. basically you gotta know in some way your stuff. I was thinking more video games and comics added and maybe it would appeal to more audiences.

  • I agree Ashley. Let us know if you end up modeling with them!

  • Sarah

I googled Cosplay Deviants to see what kind of press they are getting outside of their site and this is the first result to come up. I’m pleasantly surprised to see positive reviews. The internet can be such a disrespectful place, especially to nude ladies and/or costumers. I’ve debated applying to CD but with all the judgement going on in the cosplay community and the feminist/male gaze issues coming up in the gaming community (most of my costumes are from games), I wouldn’t want to get ostracized, berated or end up ruining my favorite hobby.

  • Sarah, there will always be haters, but I can only encourage you to try to do Cosplay Deviants, since I’m pro nerd girl bewbs. Heck, send your pics to me so I can give you positive feedback!

Regardless, thanks. I come off as a crank sometimes for the humor factor, but I do try to emphasis the positive here. There’s FAR too many nerd sites that are the “I’m an angry nerd” type. Even when I’m in angry nerd mode, I try to at least be a little fair.

    Thanks for the comment!
