I love the discount media store Half Price Books. I’ve found a ton of amazing deals there. I recently found a copy of the Starship Troopers The Miniatures Game for 60 bucks, which I thought was pretty fair for being such a huge box of goodness. Even better was the fact that I had a 15% off coupon. And even better than that all the plastic figures attached to their plastic trees and none of the cardboard pieces were punched out. It was basically brand new. But wait! There’s more! It had an expansion pack in that goes for a good price online… and it includes a cyborg dog!
Starship Troopers The Miniatures Game came out way back in 2005 and at that time my budget was a bit tighter. I never thought about getting it because I didn’t want to get sucked into a money pit with a game that I’d probably never play and have difficulty finding people to play with me. Now things are a little different and I can force my girlfriend to play with me!
I’m going to try not going overboard with this thing and play a few games before I start seeking out expansion figures and what not. I’m also not going to torture myself and even pretend I have the time to fully paint dozens of figures and be foolish enough to think they’ll turn out the way I want them. Instead, I’m going to spray paint them a base color while they’re still on the trees, assemble them, and then maybe paint a few details on some of them when I have some time.
I’ll report back when I’m able to play a game. And if you’re in the Milwaukee area and want to play, let me know. (Disclaimer: Must not be a freak.)
