1 Day, 7 Marvel Superhero Costume Reveals

What happened yesterday? For some reason both Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox revealed images of superheroes in upcoming Marvel tv and movies. Was that coordinated? It certainly dominated the comic book news over rival publisher DC revealing a cast photo for Suicide Squad at a table read. Here’s the five characters we saw yesterday:

ant-man and yellowjacket

Entertainment Weekly had this reveal of Ant-Man battling Yellowjacket. That’s for the Ant-Man movie this Summer that closes out Phase 2 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Hit the jump to see 6 more.

archangel

Here is the concept art for Archangel in X-Men: Apocalypse. It was announced that Eastenders star Ben Hardy would play Angel/Archangel.

daredevil red suit

Marvel’s first Netflix tv show, Daredevil, debuted today and yesterday this image of DD in his red suit leaked. I like it.

The Thing for 2015's Fantastic Four

Here’s what Thing will look like in Fox’s rebooted Fantastic Four movie. It’s good and interesting but the face really could’ve used a bit more work. More of his unique brow would’ve helped, as well as his unique jaw.

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool

We’d seen some leaked images and one short promo, but yesterday was another official promo image for Deadpool. It does the best at capturing the weird, off-color humor of the character.

Agents of SHIELD Deathlok 2.0

We’ve seen Deathlok on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before and he appeared on Tuesday’s episode with a much improved and upgraded appearance. Yesterday there was this official promo image. It makes me wonder if Deathlok could be the rumored spinoff that ABC is developing.

vision from age of ultron

Finally, we have a clear image of Paul Bettany as Vision who will appear in May’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. It’s an interesting mix of comics accurate (cape, colors) and new ideas (more human appearance including his eyes, suspiciously bright forehead gem).

Is anyone else getting just a wee bit too much “Batman” from Daredevil’s mask? I don’t want to gripe too much about it, because I really like the show, but it sure looks a lot like Batman.

I guess I see what you’re talking about, but it’s a cowl with horns so it’ll share some similarities no matter what. I think it’s definitely unique enough and looks accurate to Daredevil.

For me it has something to do with the shape of the brow, it’s so angular and I’m used to seeing that on movie Batman. Also, if the nose were exposed a little more, I think that would help. I’m used to seeing Daredevil’s mask make an upside down ‘U’ or ‘V’ shape from one side of his jaw to the next, and this doesn’t have that look, so you know, Batman.

That’s a fair point. I think they were probably trying not to use the same helmet/cowl that Captain America has and maybe they did go too far in the Dark Knight direction. Reminds me a fair amount of the Fall From Grace armored suit he got. Which I did not care for in the comics, but I think they fine tuned for TV.
